Scam emails are unfortunately a growing problem. 

 

Emails are often sent to try and get your personal information and/or plant a virus on your computer. These are known as Phishing emails.

What can you do?

If you have received one of these emails and have not lost any money. DO NOT click any links in the email or reply to the sender.  Report this email to action fraud by clicking here or call 0300 123 2040.

If you have lost money or given your personal details please click here to report to Action Fraud.

ROGUE TRADERS and SUSPICIOUS COLD-CALLERS:

We work closely with Croydon’s Trading Standards to try and prevent rogue traders.

 

What can you do?

If no crime has occurred please contact Croydon Trading Standards with as much information as possible, including any leaflets/flyers you may have received.  Croydon Trading Standards can be contacted via email, trading.standards@croydon.gov.uk, or phone 020 8407 1311.

If a crime has occurred call 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-emergency.

SMART WATER:

 

What is it?

SmartWater is a forensic liquid that can be used to protect all kinds of valuables including jewellery, electrical equipment and expensive tools. SmartWater contains a unique forensic code that is registered to your home address. No two SmartWater codes are the same, so anything marked can be traced back to its owner if recovered by the Police.

74% of criminals say they won’t go near a property if they see SmartWater window stickers on display.

Criminals hate traceability because it increases the chance of arrest and prosecution, so they avoid targeting homes that use SmartWater.

How does it work?

SmartWater is simply brushed onto valuables and once dry it is almost impossible to remove. The liquid can only be seen under ultraviolet (UV light), so it won’t leave any unattractive stains or blemishes on your valuables. SmartWater is guaranteed to last a minimum of 5 years – even when used on items stored outdoors. Every pack is supplied with signage and window stickers to warn thieves that your valuables are protected.
